More Than a Club - We're a Family
The Fountain Gate Gators are built on community, connection, and opportunity — a place where everyone belongs.
The Gators Story

Our
Story
From community roots to family-first footy — Welcome to The Swamp.

Founded at the close of the 1990s, the Fountain Gate Junior Football Club (Gators) became an official junior football hub in the south-east, committed to building a strong, inclusive club for families and players alike.

Nestled at Max Pawsey Reserve— affectionately known by our members as “The Swamp” — the Gators have grown into a vibrant community club where juniors, youth players, girls and our All-Abilities FIDA team find their pathway, their mateship and their home.

Over the years, the club has expanded: more teams, broader pathways, deeper inclusion and richer community connection.
While we honour our grassroots beginnings, our focus remains squarely on where we’re going:
• A welcoming environment for every player, every family.
• A place with clear pathways — from Auskick, through junior teams, girls football, to FIDA and beyond.
• The relentless Gator spirit — competitive, respectful, spirited.
• A true club voice — shaped by families, volunteers and players together.

Today, when you step onto The Swamp, you’re not just stepping into a ground. You’re stepping into a family. You’re stepping into the Gators tradition. And we’re excited to build the next chapter — together.
The Gator Way
The Gator Way is more than a motto — it’s how we play, how we lead, and how we look after one another.
It’s what guides our players, coaches, volunteers, and families every time we step onto The Swamp and every time we represent the Fountain Gate Gators in our community.
Community
We are a proud, family-focused club that welcomes every individual with warmth, support and belonging.
We build lifelong connections between players, families, volunteers and the wider community.
We celebrate culture, diversity and shared experiences both on and off the field.
What this looks like in practice:
-
Welcoming families at every training and game
-
Encouraging multi-age connection between teams
-
Running inclusive and family-friendly events
-
Supporting local schools, charities and community programs
Respect
We treat everyone with fairness, empathy and understanding.
Respect guides how we interact with teammates, coaches, umpires, volunteers, opposition clubs and the wider community.
This value shapes the way we compete, communicate, and represent the Gators brand.
What this looks like in practice:
-
Positive sidelines and supporter behaviour
-
Respectful communication between committee, coaches and families
-
Modelling good sportsmanship
-
Protecting the wellbeing, safety and dignity of all members
Pride
We represent the Gators with passion, integrity and professionalism.
We take pride in our community, our colours, our culture and our long-term legacy.
Every player, family and volunteer is a valued part of our identity and future.
What this looks like in practice:
-
Wearing the Gators uniform with honour
-
Upholding club expectations and behaviour standards
-
Showing gratitude to volunteers, sponsors and supporters
-
Celebrating achievements big and small across all sports
Inclusion
We believe sport should be for everyone.
No matter someone’s background, ability, gender, identity, culture or experience, they have a place at the Gators.
Inclusion underpins Football, Netball, and All-Abilities pathways — ensuring every person has the opportunity to participate, grow and belong.
What this looks like in practice:
-
FIDA and All-Abilities inclusion embedded in the club’s culture
-
Accessible programs for new players
-
Strong female pathways in both Football and Netball
-
Respectful behaviour expectations across all members
Growth
We support players, coaches, umpires and volunteers to learn, improve and step into new opportunities.
We believe in developing not just athletes, but confident young people with resilience, leadership and life skills.
Growth applies to both individuals and the club as a whole as we evolve into a multisport organisation.
What this looks like in practice:
-
Academy programs for skill and personal development
-
Coaching accreditation and mentoring pathways
-
Umpiring and leadership opportunities for youth
-
A focus on learning, not just winning
The Gator Crew
The people who keep the Swamp running strong.
Our committee is the heartbeat of the Fountain Gate Gators — a dedicated team of volunteers who give their time, energy and passion to make sure every player, family and supporter feels part of the club.
From organising game days at The Swamp to planning community events, sponsorships and development programs, the Gator Crew keeps everything running behind the scenes so our players can do what they do best — play footy, have fun and grow together.
Together, we lead by example, live The Gator Way and keep our club moving forward with pride, purpose and community spirit.

Welcome to The Swamp — the beating heart of the Fountain Gate Gators.
Nestled in the heart of Narre Warren at Max Pawsey Reserve, The Swamp is where our Gators family trains, plays, and comes together. It’s more than a football oval — it’s where memories are made, milestones are celebrated, and the roar of the crowd reminds us what it means to be part of something bigger.
From Auskick mornings to Friday night training sessions and Sunday game days, The Swamp is always alive with energy, laughter, and Gator pride. Rain, hail or shine — this is home.
“From the first bounce to the final siren — it all happens here at The Swamp.”

Inclusion Commitment
Football for everyone. Respect for everyone. Belonging for everyone.
At the Fountain Gate Gators, we believe footy is for every person, every ability, and every family. Inclusion isn’t an add-on — it’s who we are, and it’s woven through everything we do, on and off The Swamp.
Our club is proud to welcome players from all backgrounds, abilities and experiences. From our junior boys and girls pathways to our strong and thriving FIDA All Abilities team, we are committed to ensuring every player has the chance to grow, try, belong and shine.
We celebrate diversity, stand together against discrimination, and prioritise respect, safety and community in every interaction. At the Gators, every child has a place, every voice is heard, and every player matters.
Our Legacy
Honouring the Gators who built the path we walk today.
The Fountain Gate Gators have been shaped by countless volunteers, supporters, players and families who poured their time, energy and heart into our club. Their hard work laid the foundations for the strong, inclusive and family-first community we are proud to be today.
Our Life Members represent the very best of the Gator spirit — people who have given exceptional service over many years and helped build the culture, standards and traditions that make our club what it is. Their contributions live on in the stories we tell, the values we uphold, and the community we continue to grow together.
Life Members - Legends of The Swamp
At Fountain Gate, legends aren’t just defined by premierships — they’re defined by service, loyalty and heart.
These are the people who painted the lines before sunrise, ran canteens in the cold, coached with passion, supported every child, and helped turn The Swamp into the community home it is today.
